The story behind
Queremos pastel, according to DoReSol
There are songs that, beyond their rhythm or melody, invite you to think about what is happening around you. The song Queremos pastel, by Molotov, is one of those. Although the official duration is 3 minutes and 12 seconds, its impact is felt much longer than that time. This track belongs to the band's third studio album, titled Dance and Dense Denso, which was released in 2003. The production of this album was handled by Gustavo Santaolalla and Aníbal Kerpel. Within this work, we find songs like Frijolero, which directly addresses the complexities of the border between Mexico and the United States, and the difficult journey of those seeking to cross it.
But the criticism doesn't stop there; aspects of American culture that generate popular rejection also appear, such as the intervention in Iraq and the issue of substance abuse. In general, most of the compositions on Dance and Dense Denso, following the line of their previous works, focus on corruption and other social problems affecting Mexico. After its release, Billboard magazine dedicated a review to the album, highlighting the variety of rhythms, themes, and the different ways of approaching the voices in their songs.
