Fun facts

The Alan Parsons Project released "Psychobabble" in 1982, within the album Eye in the Sky. The song was written together by Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson, who also produced the track. Elmer Gantry, who had previously sung on "May Be a Price to Pay" from the previous album, The Turn of a Friendly Card, handled the lead vocals on this one. It was released as the second single in some countries, including the United States, where it reached Billboard Hot 100 at number 57.

The story behind

The Alan Parsons Project recorded "Psychobabble" as their second single from their album Eye in the Sky, released in November 1982. It was the first song they recorded for the album, and they recorded it a year before the rest. The vocalist was Elmer Gantry, who had already been on the previous album. The song has a strong rhythm, with a reverbed bass that Alan Parsons wanted to highlight. In the middle, there is an interlude that reminds one of the classic Psycho, with alarm siren effects. The idea of using those sirens left him a bit confused, but it was what came to mind. The song was played on the radio and reached number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its B-side was "Children of the Moon".
