The story behind
Pequeñas delicias de la vida conyugal, according to DoReSol
Sui Generis releases a song called Small Delights of Married Life. The lyrics tell the story of a couple, a man and a woman, who live together and don't get along. The man doesn't want to leave behind his old friends and customs, even though he now has a lot of money. The woman, on the other hand, feels very good about her new situation and wants to control the relationship. The song is based on a comic strip called Bringing Up Father, which was published in the United States in 1913. The strip follows a character named Jiggs, an Irish immigrant who becomes rich and stays with his old life. The song takes that story and adapts it to make a criticism of family and institutions. The lyrics focus on how relationships within a house can be complicated and how people are affected by social structures.
