The story behind

Painter Song, according to DoReSol

The song Painter Song, with its 2:42 duration, immerses us in an intimate atmosphere that invites reflection. What makes it special is the way it evokes a sonic, almost pictorial image, through vocal performance and instrumental accompaniment. It is not an explosion of energy, but a delicacy that captivates you, inviting you to listen to every nuance.

This piece was conceived during the recording sessions for Norah Jones' debut album, Come Away With Me. The work sessions took place in two New York studios: Sorcerer Sound Studio in the city and Allaire Studios in Shokan. The production was handled by Arif Mardin, who also collaborated on the mixing with Jay Newland. As recording engineers, Dick Kondas and Jay Newland himself participated. The album, released on February 26, 2002, under the Blue Note Records label, became a milestone, reaching the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart and earning important awards such as Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammy Awards. By 2005, it already held Diamond certification for shipments of over ten million copies in the United States.
