The story behind
Paint, according to DoReSol
The song Paint, composed by Per Gessle, emerges from a moment of great creative effervescence for the Swedish duo Roxette. Their second album, Look Sharp!, released in October 1988, marked a turning point. Recorded between March and September of that same year at EMI Studios in Stockholm and Trident II Studios in London, the album became an immediate success in their native country, reaching number one and obtaining multiple platinum certifications. While international recognition took a little longer to arrive, Look Sharp! was the springboard that catapulted Roxette to global stardom, achieving platinum certifications in various territories.
The international success of Roxette was consolidated in 1989, largely driven by The Look, which topped the charts in the United States. This achievement, added to their participation in the soundtrack of Pretty Woman with It Must Have Been Love, firmly established them in the global music scene. The duo, formed by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, has sold millions of albums and singles throughout their career, being recognized as one of the most successful Swedish groups. Their musical proposal, with a marked orientation towards rock compared to other renowned Swedish acts, allowed them to explore sounds that resonated internationally, even being pioneers in recording an unplugged for MTV as a non-English speaking band.
