The story behind

The song Os homens das cavernas, with its particular duration of 4 minutes and 23 seconds, emerges as an interesting piece within Skank's discography. What's distinctive here is how the sound of their fourth album, Siderado, released in 1998, was conceived. For this work, the band from Belo Horizonte decided to change direction in production, leaving behind their previous producer to collaborate with the British John Shaw and Paul Ralphes. The intention was to explore a fresh sonority, and this search was reflected from the first single, Resposta, which was presented as an acoustic piece.

The recording of Siderado took place at the emblematic Abbey Road Studios, a place with a rich musical history. For the compositions, Skank opened its doors to new collaborations, adding lyricists such as Marcelo Yuka, known for his work with O Rappa, and Rodrigo F. Leão, from the project Professor Antena. Furthermore, the album featured special participations, such as that of Daúde on the track Don Blás and that of the percussion group Uakti on No Meio do Mar. Most of the compositions bear the signature of Samuel Rosa and Chico Amaral, who provided the lyrical and melodic foundation.
