The story behind
Never Let You Go, according to DoReSol
The song *Never Let You Go* has a duration of 3 minutes and 18 seconds. It was a collaborative effort in its production, with the participation of Dan Armstrong, Danny Canaan, and the band UB40 themselves as arrangers.
UB40, a group originating from Birmingham, England, was formed in 1978. Their name comes from an official form from the United Kingdom's unemployment system. The eight members, lifelong friends, came from different backgrounds and the working class. Interestingly, they bought their first musical instruments with money that one of them, Ali, received after an incident in a pub, even though some did not yet master their instruments. After recording a demo that was played on the radio, they began performing in venues. It was Chrissie Hynde, leader of The Pretenders, who gave them a boost by inviting them to open her concerts in 1979. The following year, they released their first album, Signing off, and founded their record label, DEP International, with which they released Present Arms in Dub. Great recognition came in 1983 with their version of *Red Red Wine*, originally by Neil Diamond, included in the album Labour of Love, which marked their leap to fame. By 2010, the lineup remained active with international tours, although Ali Campbell, their vocalist, had left the group in 2008 to form his own band, "The Dep Band".
