The story behind

The song Mr. Fix It, with its 3 minutes and 23 seconds duration, draws on the energy that UB40 managed to distill from their beginnings. The sound we find here has its roots firmly planted in reggae and dub, genres that defined this English band born in Birmingham. The production of this piece was handled by Dan Armstrong and Danny Canaan, along with the band themselves, who were also responsible for the arrangements, seeking that characteristic sound that made them known.

The history of UB40 is interesting, as they formed in England in 1978, taking their name from an official UK form. Its members, childhood friends, came from different backgrounds and the working class. In fact, they bought their first instruments with money one of them received after a fight, something that speaks to their entrepreneurial spirit. It was Chrissie Hynde, from The Pretenders, who gave them a boost by inviting them to be opening act on one of her tours in 1979. Shortly after, in 1980, they released their first album, Signing off, and founded their record label, DEP International. Massive success arrived in 1983 with their version of Red Red Wine, included in the album Labour of Love.
