The story behind
Loudmouth, according to DoReSol
When you encounter Loudmouth, you come across that raw and direct energy that defines the Ramones. It's a track that, with its duration of just 2:15, condenses the essence of what they wanted to convey: a fast, straightforward sound, almost like a shout. It's clear they weren't seeking the complexity of the bands that dominated the 70s, but something more down-to-earth, closer. The lyrics, simple and repetitive, are part of that DNA they themselves helped forge, marking a path for what would come next in punk.
This track is part of the Ramones' first album, released in April 1976 by Sire Records. The recording process was accelerated and economical: it only took them seven days and cost $6,400, a figure that today would be equivalent to about $36,200. The recording engineer was Rob Freeman, with the collaboration of Don Hünerberg, while the production was handled by Thomas Erdelyi and Craig Leon. The image accompanying the album, photographed by Roberta Bayley, shows the four members leaning against a brick wall in New York City, a snapshot that captures the band's aesthetic in its early days.
