The story behind
The song Let Me Put My Love Into You, with its duration of 4 minutes and 15 seconds, emerges as the fifth track on the album Back In Black. This record, released on July 25, 1980, by Albert Productions and Atlantic Records, marked a turning point for the Australian band AC/DC. It was the first album on which Brian Johnson took on the role of lead vocalist, following the death of Bon Scott. The composition of this piece, like the rest of the album, is attributed to Johnson and brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. The recording process spanned seven weeks, from April to May 1980, in the Bahamas, under the production of Robert John “Mutt” Lange. The recording engineers who participated in these sessions were Tony Platt, Benjamin Armbrister, and Jack Nuber, while the mixing was handled by Brad Samuelsohn.
The context in which Back In Black was conceived was marked by the loss of Bon Scott, who died on February 19, 1980, in London, due to alcohol poisoning. After this event, the members of AC/DC considered the possibility of disbanding, but ultimately chose to continue. It was then that they recruited Brian Johnson, who had previously been the vocalist for the group Geordie. This album, which followed the commercial success of 1979's Highway to Hell, not only became a milestone for the band but also reached number one on the sales charts in the United Kingdom, catapulting them to greater prominence in the United States. The theme of Let Me Put My Love Into You, like other songs such as Shoot to Thrill, addresses a perspective of a sexual nature.
