The story behind
Lemons Never Forget, according to DoReSol
The song *Lemons Never Forget* by the Bee Gees, with its duration of 3:02, is from the album *Horizontal*, released in early 1968. This work marked the group's second LP to have international distribution. The album's sound, as described, moved between influences reminiscent of the Beatles and baroque pop. The trio, composed of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, founded in 1958, had already experienced a first peak of popularity in the late sixties and early seventies, before their subsequent boom in the disco era.
The Gibb brothers, born on the Isle of Man and with a childhood shared between Manchester, England, and Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia, developed a distinctive vocal style. Their three-part harmonies were immediately recognizable, with Robin's vibrato marking their early hits and Barry's falsetto defining their sound in later stages. They wrote and produced their own tracks, as well as creating hits for other artists. *Horizontal* was released under the Polydor label in many territories, while Atco distributed it exclusively in the United States and Canada. One of the standout songs from this album, "Massachusetts", along with "World", achieved great international impact. In 2007, Reprise Records reissued *Horizontal*, including stereo and mono mixes, as well as unreleased material and alternate takes.
