The story behind

La Tarara, according to DoReSol

When approaching Tribute to Federico (Camarón de la Isla), we encounter a piece that marked a before and after in flamenco. This song, part of the album The Legend of Time, signified a turning point for the genre, driving the new flamenco movement. Although it generated controversy among the most purist at the time for its departure from traditional forms, over time it has been recognized by critics as a fundamental work.

The singer José Monge Cruz, known as Camarón de la Isla, was born in San Fernando, Cádiz, in 1950. Coming from a gypsy family, his nickname was given to him by his uncle due to his physical appearance, and the reference to the Isla de León, where his hometown is located, would complete his stage name. After leaving his studies to help his father, and following his death, he began singing in various venues from a very young age. This album, The Legend of Time, released in 1992, was the first in which he did not have the collaboration of his usual guitarist, Paco de Lucía.
