The story behind
Keep On Moving, according to DoReSol
The song Keep On Moving by UB40, with its duration of 4:38, is a fascinating example of how a band can reinterpret well-known themes and give them their own identity. Although the album Labour of Love is famous for its version of Red Red Wine, which became a worldwide hit, Keep On Moving is also part of that collection of covers that demonstrated the versatility of the English group. The recording featured engineering by Howard Gray and production by Ray “Pablo” Falconer alongside the band itself, who managed to capture the essence of reggae and dub that characterizes UB40.
This album, Labour of Love, released in the United Kingdom on September 12, 1983, marked a milestone for UB40 as it was their first work composed entirely of covers. It reached number one on the charts in New Zealand and the Netherlands, and remained in the Top 5 in Canada. In the United States, its initial success was more modest, but the popularity of Red Red Wine helped the album re-enter the Billboard 200 in 1988, reaching position 14. The band, formed in Birmingham in 1978, was made up of childhood friends from diverse backgrounds, creating a distinctive sound that allowed them to stand out in the music scene.
