The story behind

Just Because, according to DoReSol

The melody of Just Because has an interesting journey before reaching the hands of Elvis Presley. Originally, this song saw the light of day in 1929, recorded by Nelstone's Hawaiians. Then, in 1933, the Shelton Brothers also gave it their version. Some suggest that the original authorship fell solely to Sydney Robin, and that the Sheltons added their names at the time of registration. For Elvis Presley, the recording of Just Because took place on September 10, 1954, at Sun Studios. Although this particular take was not released at the time by Sun, it did find its place on the artist's self-titled debut album, Elvis Presley, released in 1956, shortly after his signing with RCA Records.

This first album, recorded between Nashville and New York, marked a milestone by being the first rock and roll album to reach number one on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, staying there for ten weeks. Elvis Presley, born in 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, moved to Memphis, Tennessee, and it was there that, in 1954, Sam Phillips of Sun Records saw in him the potential to expand African American music. Along with Scotty Moore and Bill Black, Elvis pioneered rockabilly, a fusion of country and rhythm and blues. Following an agreement with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, RCA Records boosted his career, releasing hits like Heartbreak Hotel in January 1956.

Elvis's energetic performances and uninhibited style made him a central figure in rock and roll.
