The story behind

I’m Counting on You, according to DoReSol

The song I’m Counting on You is one of the pieces that make up the self-titled debut album by Elvis Presley, released in 1956. This record marked a milestone by being the first rock and roll work to reach the top of the *Billboard Top Pop Albums* chart, remaining there for ten weeks. The recording took place at RCA studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and in New York, in mid-January of that same year. The album, which had a total duration of 2:25 for this particular song, was not only a commercial success, reaching gold and later platinum status, but also laid the groundwork for the expansion of rock and roll.

Elvis Aaron Presley, born in Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1935, moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in his teens. It was there, in 1954, that his artistic path began to take shape. Sam Phillips, at the helm of Sun Records, recognized in him a potential to spread African-American music. Accompanied by musicians such as guitarist Scotty Moore and upright bassist Bill Black, Elvis became a key figure in the creation of rockabilly, a style that fused country and rhythm and blues with an energetic rhythm. After signing with RCA Records under the management of Tom Parker, his first single with the label, Heartbreak Hotel, released in January 1956, quickly became number one. Television appearances and his uninhibited performance style catapulted him to fame, consolidating him as a central figure of rock and roll.
