The story behind
Insensatez, according to DoReSol
Insensatez was born on an afternoon of laughter and mistakes. Recorded in a single day at a studio in Milano, the song slipped in between jokes, long pauses, and the occasional stumble between Vinicius and Toquinho. They weren’t aiming for perfection, but rather to capture the exact moment when Toquinho’s guitar and Vinicius’ voice blended together without filters. The result was an entire album, O poeta e o violão, where every track sounds like an intimate conversation between two friends who had carried decades of music on their shoulders.
Behind those 2 minutes and 41 seconds lies the story of a friendship that spanned continents. Toquinho, who at fourteen was already taking lessons with Paulinho Nogueira, met Vinicius in Buenos Aires in 1970. Together they toured Itália for eleven years, composed over a hundred songs, and filled stages with a style that blended samba, bossa, and poetry. Insensatez is just one of those songs that, recorded on the spot, ended up being a faithful portrait of what their art was: spontaneous, sincere, and unpretentious.
