The story behind
Hechicera, according to DoReSol
This song kicks off the album Sueños Líquidos with an unforgettable guitar riff. The track Hechicera reached position 36 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart on December 8, 1997, just after the album was released worldwide in 36 countries. What’s interesting is that the recording went through the filter of Puerto Vallarta, where the sound of the sea and the coastal atmosphere seeped into every note. It lasted exactly five minutes, but in that time it achieved something few songs do: sticking in the memory without needing repetitions.
The album Sueños Líquidos was no ordinary project. It was recorded in a city where water permeates everything, and that’s evident in the air each song breathes. The band’s first Latin Grammy came thanks to this album, which also won a Premio Lo Nuestro. They weren’t just looking to sell records: they wanted the water—this element that pulses in the title—to be part of their sonic DNA. And did they succeed: in Spain and the United States, it sold over a million copies, something uncommon for a Latin rock band at the time. The track Hechicera was the second single, but deep down it worked like the bait that hooked more than one in that tide of melodies.
