The story behind
"Fuera de base" sounds like that moment when the beat suddenly picks up without warning and leaves you right where you wanted to be: in the middle of the party. It’s not a track that drags on or stays stuck in a single beat; the duo Wisin & Yandel builds it on a rhythm that shifts between the catchy and the unexpected, as if every percussion hit had a double meaning. The beat of “Fuera de base” doesn’t settle for repeating a standard pattern: there’s a play on syncopation that makes you move your feet without even realizing it—something that isn’t always easy to achieve in reggaeton without sounding forced.
The track was born during the sessions for *Pa’l mundo*, the album that Wisin & Yandel released in November 2005 on the Machete Music label. It wasn’t just any album: it climbed to the top of Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart and stayed there, proving that its raw, direct sound resonated with people. But “Fuera de base” wasn’t an instant hit like other tracks from the same album. It made a strong comeback in 2007, when Machete Music re-released the album under the title *First Class Delivery*, and since then it has become a classic for those nights when reggaeton doesn’t ask permission to blast.
