The story behind

Simply Red released For Your Babies in January 1992, as their third single from their album Stars, released in 1991. The song was recorded in a studio in Venice, and has a smooth rhythm, with piano, bass and acoustic guitar. The voice of Mick Hucknall is clear and delicate, as if speaking directly to the ear. The lyrics talk about a father who hopes for the best for his children, in the middle of sleepless nights. The video is in black and white, made by Andrew Morahan, and the song made it to the charts in several countries, although it was not a major success in the United Kingdom. The acoustic version is on the album Simplified, and the song also appears in several compilations.
