The story behind
Enjoy the Silence / Interlude #2: Crucified, according to DoReSol
The Interlude #2: Crucified, which is part of Depeche Mode's Violator, is a sonic moment that serves as a bridge, a piece that, although brief, condenses the album's atmosphere. Its 6:13 minute duration invites us to immerse ourselves in a particular sonic space before continuing the musical journey. This interlude, along with Enjoy the Silence, preceded the release of the album Violator, paving the way for what would be their great leap onto the international stage.
The album Violator, released in 1990, was a key work for Depeche Mode. It was produced by the group with Mark Ellis Flood, and all compositions bear the signature of Martin Gore. The final mix was handled by Flood and Daniel Miller. In the United States, this album achieved significant sales that same year, exceeding two million copies, and its promotion included the World Violation Tour. On this tour, they shared the stage with bands such as Nitzer Ebb and it was also the debut of Electronic.
