The story behind
E lì, according to DoReSol
The song *È lì* by Lucio Dalla, with a duration of 4:31, emerges from a crucial moment in the singer-songwriter's career. This track is part of the album *Il giorno aveva cinque teste*, released in April 1973. This work marked the beginning of a fundamental collaboration with the poet Roberto Roversi, who would be responsible for the lyrics. This creative alliance, which would extend for four years and three albums, including *Anidride solforosa* and *Automobili*, is considered a turning point for both Dalla and Italian song. Lucio Dalla, born in Bologna in 1943 and died in Montreux in 2012, was a multifaceted artist who explored various musical facets.
With a career spanning nearly five decades, his initial training in jazz as a clarinetist and saxophonist allowed him to explore from beat music to rhythmic experimentation and singer-songwriter music. In his early days, he shared the stage with figures such as Fabrizio Zampa and Massimo Catalano, under the guidance of Carlo Loffredo. His vocal style, influenced by the boldness of James Brown and scat improvisation, often played with dissonances and unexpected variations, challenging the melodic conventions of his time. It was Gino Paoli who encouraged him to embark on a solo career.
