Dueles doesn’t sound like just another Latin pop track. It begins with an intimate, almost whispered air, which shatters in the chorus when the melody opens like a held-back sigh. It’s not just the lyrics that hurt—the sound itself seems to drag between deep notes and a rhythm that refuses to let go. Joy’s voice blends with an accompaniment that doesn’t seek attention, yet ends up being the detail that makes the song stick.
They recorded it in 2016 as part of Un besito más, the third album by Jesse & Joy, but it wasn’t just another track on the record. The video, directed by Esteban Madrazo, tells a parallel story: Jesse plays someone who stands by their partner in an unseen struggle, yet felt in every chord. It lasted 4:08 in its studio version, but live—like in the Un Besito Más Tour—it stretched on, as if the audience never wanted it to end. They even made an English version, Helpless, released the following year on a compilation album. It wasn’t just a song: it was a moment.
