The story behind
When you dive into Don Blás, you encounter a piece that stands out for its particular atmosphere. The song's duration is 4:26, a time that allows its sound to develop without rushing. What's interesting is that this track featured the collaboration of Daúde, adding a guest voice that gives it a special dimension.
The band Skank, originally from Belo Horizonte, was formed in March 1991. Before reaching Don Blás, they had already released their fourth studio album, titled Siderado, in 1998. For this work, they sought a different sound from their previous albums, bringing in British producers John Shaw and Paul Ralphes, instead of producer Dudu Marote. The recording of Siderado took place at the iconic Abbey Road Studios. On this album, Skank explored new compositional alliances, working with artists such as Marcelo Yuka from O Rappa and Rodrigo F. Leão from Professor Antena. In addition to Daúde's participation in Don Blás, the album also included the percussion group Uakti on the song No Meio do Mar. The lyrics for most of the songs, including Don Blás, were written by the duo of Samuel Rosa and Chico Amaral.
