The story behind
Dolce di giorno, according to DoReSol
Lucio Battisti released Dolce di giorno in 1966 as his first single. It was a key moment: before that, he had written songs but had not recorded any as a singer. The record companies did not want him because they saw him as a bad singer. Mogol, his lyricist partner, got involved and threatened to leave, which eventually convinced Ricordi to release it.The song was recorded in stereo, but it was released on the album in mono. The cover shows Battisti from behind, embracing a girl, with a euro coin in the center. Although it was not a commercial success — only 520 out of 1,000 copies were sold — it became a sought-after piece for collectors. It was reissued in 1977 as part of a magazine and later in 1999 it was worth a million lire.
