Divididos por la felicidad

Sumo burst onto the scene with Divididos por la felicidad like a sharp blow: five minutes of post-punk that doesn’t sound like a debut, but like a statement of principles. The track opens the album with a rhythm that stretches over long measures, as if the bass and drums were playing at being out of sync without ever losing the axis. There’s something in that tension that’s no coincidence: the title itself is a direct nod to Joy Division, the British band that shaped the genre. But where the original used coldness to convey distance, Sumo fills it with urgency, as if happiness here were a territory to cross quickly before it falls apart.
