The story behind

There are songs that invite you to the party from the very first note, and Disperato erotico stomp is one of them. The music, with its rhythm that evokes the most energetic jazz, is built on a foundation of two major chords, separated by a fifth, creating that sense of constant and playful movement, in the style of "stomp". But what really grabs you is the story it tells. According to Lucio Dalla himself, the lyrics have a personal touch and narrate the experience of being abandoned by his partner, who left him for another woman. From there, the lyrics take us on a nocturnal journey through Bologna, full of curious encounters: a prostitute with progressive ideas and a lost traveler from Berlin. The night culminates at home, with an intimate reflection. Dalla conceived these lyrics as a response to certain moral stances of the time, giving them an irreverent and direct character.

This musical piece, which lasts just under six minutes, was released in 1977, as part of the album Come è profondo il mare. Later, in 1996, it was given a new lease of life as a hidden track on the album Canzoni. The impact of Disperato erotico stomp was such that the group Articolo 31 sampled it for their track L'impresa eccezionale, also from 1996. Lucio Dalla, born in Bologna in 1943, was an artist who moved through diverse styles, from beat to experimentation, but always maintained a connection with his jazz roots. He began his career as a clarinetist in jazz groups, exploring scat-style vocal improvisation, and admiring figures like James Brown. It was Gino Paoli who encouraged him to embark on his solo career, discovering his talent for telling stories through music.
