The story behind
The song Deseo, by Jorge Drexler, immerses us in a sonic atmosphere that combines the warmth of acoustic compositions with subtle electronic touches. What makes this track special, and the entire album Eco, is its way of intertwining the meticulously crafted lyrics with string arrangements that give it a particular dimension. A constant search for textures and sounds that go beyond the conventional is perceived, a characteristic that was consolidated throughout Drexler's career and opened doors for him in different markets.
This work was conceived in 2004, primarily at Sondor Studios in Uruguay, with production by Juan Campodónico and co-production by Carlos Casacuberta. The recording of Deseo, like the rest of the album Eco, benefited from Drexler's previous experience, having already won an Oscar award for "Al otro lado del río". That prior trajectory, combined with studio experimentation, resulted in a distinctive sound that resonated strongly in Latin America and Spain. The mixing of the track was handled by Julio Berta, Pablo García, and Javi Varela, who contributed their vision to give the piece its final shape.
