The story behind

Cuori agitati, according to DoReSol

Cuori agitati is that song that sounds like a racing heartbeat in the middle of an album full of melodies that seem made to hum along to in the car. At just three minutes and forty-seven seconds, it doesn’t waste time: it kicks off straight away with a rhythm that grabs you from the first chord and doesn’t let go until the end. It’s neither a slow ballad nor an epic track, but something closer to a musical dialogue where the guitar and voice take turns as if they’re telling a story between whispers and contained shouts.

Recorded in 1986 as part of Nuovi eroi, this track wasn’t born as a planned hit. In fact, its album version is longer than the one released as a single—a full extra minute of instrumental passages that give it that air of a song meant to be listened to with attention, not just as background music. What’s curious is that, although Adesso tu won the prize at the San Remo Music Festival that same year and dominated the charts in Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, Cuori agitati remained that track fans often mention afterward: the one that wasn’t on the radar but, once heard, lingers in your mind. The entire album marked the start of an eleven-album streak at the top of the Italian charts, but this particular track seems made for those who prefer to hold onto the details rather than the numbers.
