The story behind

Confesiones de invierno, according to DoReSol

When you find yourself stripped of everything, without a roof over your head and with an empty stomach, resignation can lead you to unexpected places. In *Confesiones de invierno*, the lyrics paint a raw picture of a character who, after being thrown out of his home for not having a profession, finds himself adrift. The cold becomes palpable, the wait becomes heavy, and the only way out he seems to find is in drink, which leads him to an encounter with the police and to end up beaten. The story culminates in a melancholic peace, found in a mental asylum, a place that, ironically, offers him refuge. The music, at its core, is built on arpeggios in D major, with a harmonic progression that moves through G, maintaining a simple but effective structure that accompanies the narrative.

This piece, born in 1973, marked a milestone in the career of Sui Generis. It was included in the self-titled album, released by the Talent label, and also appeared on the 1975 EP *Alto en la Torre*. What is particular about this recording is that Charly García performs it solo, without the vocal accompaniment of Nito Mestre, and without the participation of the orchestra of Gustavo Beytelman, who had collaborated on most of the album's tracks. The song, with a duration of 4 minutes and 6 seconds, was a fundamental part of the repertoire at the band's farewell concert, where its final phrase received a strong ovation from the audience. In that performance, the key was changed to G, and the tempo was slightly accelerated, demonstrating the composition's adaptability.
