The story behind

The last track on the album Canción Animal, Cae el sol, unfolds with an atmosphere that evokes the ethereal voices of Robert Plant in The Ocean. At the end of the song, an echo of the melody from The Beatles' Here Comes the Sun can be perceived, a detail that adds a layer of familiarity to its sound. This song, composed by Gustavo Cerati, featured the collaboration of Daniel Melero, who participated in the Gira Animal. The version heard on the album is not the one experienced live; the music video, directed by Caíto Lorenzo in 1991, shows Soda Stereo performing it at the Teatro Gran Rex in Buenos Aires, but uses the original studio recording. During one particular concert, Cerati adapted the lyrics, saying "Buenos Aires, Argentina, humidity!" instead of the usual phrase.

Canción Animal, released in 1990, was recorded at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, Florida, during June and July of that year, with Gustavo Cerati and Zeta Bosio as producers. This album, which includes Cae el sol, became a milestone for Soda Stereo and for Spanish-language rock in general. The band, formed by Gustavo Cerati, Héctor "Zeta" Bosio, and Charly Alberti, left an indelible mark on Ibero-America. Their initial influences included new wave bands like Virus and The Police, evolving towards a more robust sound with touches of alternative and electronic rock. Cae el sol is a testament to that evolution, a song that closes a cycle within a fundamental album.
