The story behind
Wu-Tang Clan recorded Bring da Ruckus in a small New York studio, with very few resources. The sound is hard, direct, with a touch of violence and humor. The song is part of an album that marked a before and after in East Coast hip-hop. The guys got into the studio with a plan: to combine Eastern philosophy, kung fu movies and the atmosphere of New York streets. The idea was to do something that had never been done before. The production was done by RZA, who also handled mixing and arrangements. The song was recorded with a lot of people in the same place, sometimes up to eight in the studio, which complicated things. To decide who would be on each song, they had fights, as if it were a tournament. Bring da Ruckus is an example of how hip-hop was made at that time, with a touch of violence and a base of strong rhythms. ↓ Skip to chordsVerse 1
