The story behind

Brigas, nunca mais, according to DoReSol

The song Brigas, nunca mais presents us with an intimate and reflective moment, a musical conversation woven between two giants of Brazilian music. The piece, with its concise duration of just one minute and forty seconds, condenses an atmosphere of calm and mutual understanding, inviting us to leave disputes behind. It is an example of how simplicity can be deeply moving, a melodic breath that invites introspection.

This track is part of the collaborative album Elis & Tom, a project that arose as a gift for Elis Regina on the occasion of her ten years with Philips. The recording sessions took place in February and March 1974 at MGM Studios in Los Angeles, California. The album is the result of the meeting between Elis Regina and Antonio Carlos Jobim, two leading figures in the popular music of Brazil. The arrangements, handled by César Camargo Mariano, then Elis’s husband, brought an innovative vision by incorporating electric instruments into bossa nova, creating a distinctive sound. Recording engineering was overseen by Humberto Gatica, while production was the responsibility of Aloysio de Oliveira. Elis Regina Carvalho Costa, born in Porto Alegre in 1945 and deceased in São Paulo in 1982, is remembered as one of the most prominent voices in MPB.
