The story behind
Barquito de papel, according to DoReSol
The melody of Barquito de papel invites us to imagine a simple, almost ephemeral journey, like that undertaken by a small paper boat. The song, with its duration of 2:58, evokes a feeling of lightness and nostalgia, as if we were watching something delicate drift away. It is not a grand epic, but rather the beauty that resides in the small and the fragile, a recurring theme in the work of Joan Manuel Serrat, who has managed to capture the essence of everyday life and the deepest feelings with a unique sensitivity.
This track is part of the album Mediterráneo, released in 1971 by Novola. This record work is considered by many to be one of the masterpieces of Spanish music. In fact, in 2004, Rockdelux magazine placed it third on its list of "the 100 greatest Spanish albums of the 20th century." Joan Manuel Serrat himself is the author of all the compositions on this record, with the exception of the lyrics for Vencidos, which are inspired by a poem by León Felipe. The musical arrangements were handled by figures such as Juan Carlos Calderón, Gian Piero Reverberi, and Antoni Ros-Marbà, who brought layers of sophistication to Serrat's creations. The album, which went out of circulation for years, was reissued in 2000, allowing new generations to discover its richness.
