The story behind

The song *Bahía de Cádiz* stands out as one of the key pieces on the album La leyenda del tiempo, a work that marked a before and after in flamenco. Being the first recording by Camarón de la Isla without the participation of his usual partner, guitarist Paco de Lucía, this album represented a turning point. Its sound, which moved away from the more traditional forms of flamenco, generated divided opinions among the public and purists, but over time, the album was recognized by specialized critics as a fundamental milestone in the evolution of the genre.

José Monge Cruz, known artistically as Camarón de la Isla, was born in San Fernando, in the province of Cádiz, Spain, on December 5, 1950. This singer, considered a towering figure in flamenco, came from a gypsy family, and his nickname, "Camarón" (Shrimp), was given to him by an uncle due to his slender build and fair complexion. The name of his hometown, San Fernando, located on the Isla de León (Isle of León), inspired the second part of his artistic name. Despite leaving school to help his father, the young José grew up listening to great flamenco singing figures who visited his home, laying the foundations for his future innovative career. The duration of *Bahía de Cádiz* is 2:56.
