The story behind

Babe I’m Gonna Leave You, according to DoReSol

The song *Babe I’m Gonna Leave You* has a particular history in its authorship. While the original music is by Anne Bredon, the arrangement and the version we know from Led Zeppelin added the ideas of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. It was recorded in October 1968, in just 30 hours, at Olympic Studios in London. This track, with its 6:41 duration, shows from the beginning the direction the band would take: a fusion of blues with a heavier sound, influences from folk, and echoes of West Coast American music. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant worked together on the arrangements, while Glyn Johns was in charge of the recording engineering and Peter Grant along with Jimmy Page took on the production.

This track was part of the self-titled debut album by Led Zeppelin, released in January 1969. The band, founded in 1968 by Jimmy Page, who came from The Yardbirds, completed its lineup with John Paul Jones on bass and keyboards, Robert Plant on vocals, and John Bonham on drums. Led Zeppelin's sound drew from a wide range of styles, from blues and rock and roll to soul, Celtic, Indian, folk, and country music. Although the band broke up in 1980, their music continues to resonate and has influenced countless artists.
