The story behind
The song Alright for Now, which is part of the album Full Moon Fever, was conceived at a time when Tom Petty was exploring his musical roots, hinting at the influences that shaped him. The composition of this track, like much of the album, was a collaborative effort between Petty and Jeff Lynne, who also took a leading role in production. The result was a sound that resonated strongly, leading Full Moon Fever to reach number three on the US Billboard 200 and earn multiple platinum certifications in both that country and Canada.
This solo work, released on April 24, 1989, featured the participation of musicians close to Petty, including members of his band The Heartbreakers like Mike Campbell. Roy Orbison, who sadly passed away before the album was released, and George Harrison, both Petty's bandmates in the Traveling Wilburys project, also added their talent. The recording of Alright for Now and the rest of the album involved engineers such as Bill Bottrell, Mike Campbell, and Don Smith, while the mixing was handled by Bill Bottrell. The track's duration is 2:01.
