The story behind

A Change Is Gonna Come, according to DoReSol

The recording of A Change Is Gonna Come, with a duration of 4:15, was made under the production of Jerry Wexler. This piece is part of Aretha Franklin's ninth studio album, titled I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You, released on March 10, 1967, by Atlantic Records. It was Franklin's first work with this record label, after her time with Columbia Records, where she had released eight jazz standards albums without achieving significant impact. This album, however, marked a commercial turning point, becoming her first album in the top 10 in the United States, reaching second place on the Billboard 200. To promote the album, two singles were released: Respect, a cover of Otis Redding that topped the Billboard Hot 100, and I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You), which also reached the top 10.

Aretha Louise Franklin, born in Memphis on March 25, 1942, is a prominent figure in soul, R&B, and gospel music. Known as "Lady Soul" or "Queen of Soul," her influence on contemporary music is considerable. By the mid-1960s, she had established herself as a soul star, using her platform to support racial rights in the United States and actively participating in the racial and women's liberation movement. In 1987, Franklin made history by being the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone magazine has recognized her as the greatest singer in history on its list of 100 Greatest Singers, and has ranked her as the ninth greatest artist on its list of 100 Greatest Artists.
