This album, however, marked a commercial turning point, becoming her first album in the top 10 in the United States, reaching second place on the Billboard 200. To promote the album, two singles were released: Respect, a cover of Otis Redding that topped the Billboard Hot 100, and I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You), which also reached the top 10.
