Travis Scott

Jacques Bermon Webster II, known in the music world as Travis Scott, has built a sound that moves between traditional hip-hop and more ethereal textures, with clear influences from artists like Kanye West and Kid Cudi. In fact, his stage name is a nod to Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, combined with that of a close uncle. From the start, his approach has been ambitious, exploring music production and songwriting.

His path in the recording industry began to take shape in 2012, when he signed a major deal with Epic Records. At the same time, he was involved in music production for GOOD Music, the label of Kanye West. A year later, in April 2013, he sealed a joint agreement with Grand Hustle Records, the label of rapper T.I.. It was in that same year of 2013 that he released his first extended project, the mixtape Owl Pharaoh, followed by Days Before Rodeo in 2014. His debut solo album, Rodeo, arrived in 2015 and was well received by both critics and the public, with standout tracks like "Antidote".

Biography

The year 2016 marked a milestone with the release of Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, which became his first album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart. The following year, he formed the duo Huncho Jack with Quavo, with whom he released a self-titled album. His third studio album, Astroworld, released in 2018, solidified his position, becoming his second consecutive number one on the Billboard 200 and featuring his first solo single to top the Billboard Hot 100, "Sicko Mode".

In late 2019, his label Cactus Jack Records released the compilation album JackBoys, which also topped the Billboard 200. Scott demonstrated an impressive streak on the Billboard Hot 100, achieving three of his songs debuting at number one in less than a year, including hits like "Highest in the Room" and "Franchise". In 2023, he released his fourth studio album, Utopia, which repeated the feat of reaching number one on the Billboard 200, cementing his fourth consecutive album in that position. The work included singles that reached the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, such as "Meltdown" and "Fein". To complement Utopia, he also co-directed the short film Circus Maximus.

Throughout his career, Travis Scott has been nominated ten times for the Grammy Awards, and has earned accolades such as a Latin Grammy Award and a Billboard Music Award. His influence extends beyond music, collaborating with brands like Nike and Dior. However, his career has also been marked by controversies and safety issues at his concerts, including a tragic incident at the Astroworld Festival in 2021, in his hometown of Houston, Texas.
