Peso Pluma

Peso Pluma doesn’t sound like an artist who arrived to stay in one genre, but rather someone who redefined it. His music blends corrido tumbado —that fusion of rural narratives with urban rhythms— with touches of trap and reggaeton, yet never loses the acoustic essence that defines his beginnings. It’s not just the sound: it’s how he builds it. He recorded his first tracks live, with borrowed equipment and unedited, and that rawness became part of his style. The songs don’t sound like studio productions; they sound like stories told among friends, with guitars that complement rather than overshadow the lyrics.

The leap to mainstream success came with collaborations no one expected. In 2022, when he released "Siempre Pendientes" alongside Luis R. Conriquez, the track went viral on social media and broke records: it was his first entry on the Billboard Global 200. But the real turning point was "Ella Baila Sola," the track with Eslabón Armado that, in April 2023, climbed into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and became the first regional Mexican music song to achieve this. That same year, he marked another milestone: eight of his tracks entered the chart simultaneously, something unprecedented for a Mexican artist.

More about Peso Pluma

Biography

His albums reflect that evolution. Ah y Qué? (2020) was his debut, with songs like "El Petter" and "Relajado Voy" already showcasing his writing style: direct, no-frills, with rhymes that feel natural. Efectos Secundarios (2021) delved deeper into corrido tumbado, but it was Génesis (2023) that took him to another level. The album not only debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 but also earned him his first Grammy in the Best Mexican Music Album category (including Tejano). His latest work, Éxodo (2024), a double album, repeated the success: number 5 on the same chart. These aren’t random numbers; they’re proof that his sound —a mix of tradition and modernity— is resonating where others aren’t.
