Lenny Tavárez

If you listen to a song by Lenny Tavárez and get stuck with the catchy rhythm, but also with that mix of melancholy and flow that seems to come from a single breath, that’s his signature: a voice that moves between classic reggaeton and Latin Trap without ever losing the pulse. It’s not just the sound that defines his music, but how that sound feels close, as if you had heard each song at a neighborhood party or on a late-night car ride. His style doesn’t stay in the commercial realm; there’s something in his way of singing — that cadence that sometimes stretches, other times accelerates — that makes even collaborations sound personal, not just another track.

The leap from Dyland & Lenny to his solo career wasn’t a change of direction, but of intensity. In the duo, they already stood out with songs like «Huele a rosa» or «Caliente», tracks that played on every radio and earned them nominations at awards like the Billboard and Premios Lo Nuestro. But it was after their split in 2013 when Lenny found his own space: first with «Más no puedo amarte» and later with «Fantasías», which, although meant to be part of an album that never came out, ended up being one of those songs that sticks in the memory. What’s interesting isn’t just that he moved forward, but how he did it: with collaborations that didn’t sound like filler, but like key pieces, such as when «Fantasías» was remixed with De la Ghetto and J Álvarez and ended up playing across Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and half of Latin America.

Biography

Then came the shift toward Latin Trap, a movement that didn’t aim to sound like anyone else, but like themselves. Songs like «Caviar», «Secreto», or «Perfecta» show that evolution: more direct lyrics, rhythms that feel rawer, yet never losing that connection with the audience. In 2018, the collaboration with Paulo Londra on «Nena maldición» was a high point, not because of the success itself, but because it proved he could thrive in a space where reggaeton alone wasn’t enough. And if that wasn’t enough, in 2019 came The Academy, his EP with Rich Music, where he not only lent his voice but also appeared on the cover: a detail that speaks of someone who understands that music isn’t just sound, but also image and attitude. Among Dalex, Sech, and Feid, Lenny proved he could navigate that ecosystem without losing his essence.
