Jósean Log

When Jósean Log uploaded his acoustic version of «Chachachá» to YouTube in 2016, he never imagined that the song would become his calling card: today, it has surpassed 290 million views on the platform and over 500 million on Spotify. What began as a home experiment ended up defining his sound—a blend of folk, rock, son, bolero, and blues, where the ukulele—his favorite instrument—sets the rhythm with a freshness reminiscent of his influences: Manu Chao and Jorge Drexler. He himself dubbed it pop guapo, a style where colors and nuances blend to create something that sounds like both a party and nostalgia at once. It’s no coincidence that he’s been compared to Caloncho, another artist who works with the same sonic palette.

After studying music at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Jósean returned to Mexico with the tools to turn his passion into a serious project. His first step was releasing «Chachachá», «Parriba», and «La vida la vida», but it was with the EP Háblate de mí—released in October 2016—where he solidified his identity: he included a new version of his hit, alongside «Beso», «Combustión», and «La Luna». The album marked the beginning of a career that, in just three years, led him to top the pop and indie pop charts in Mexico and Latin America. By 2017, he was already performing at massive festivals and collaborating with other artists, such as Salomón Beda on «Playa y sol».

More about Jósean Log

Biography

In 2018, he took a turn with the EP Háblame de tú, exploring more intimate themes like «No quise» and «Contento de contento», and released the single «Jacaranda». The following year, El futuro no existe delved deeper into this style with songs like «Canción sin nombre» and «Alguien como tú», solidifying his signature sound as a pop guapachoso and sabrosón—where Mexico’s multiculturalism seeps into chords and lyrics that speak of love, heartbreak, and everyday life. In 2020, his collaboration with Elsa y Elmar and Daniel, me estás matando on «Grecia» took him beyond borders, while «Reflexión del pasto» and his participation in Adrián Bello’s «Escondidos» showcased his versatility. He also left his mark on Esteman’s album Si volviera a nacer with «Mar», and became an opening act for Julieta Venegas in New York and Boston. His music, which has shared stages with artists like Mon Laferte, Empire of the Sun, and Sigala, remains a reflection of that blend between the local and the global that defines him.
