Biography
The meeting with their future manager, Christopher Sabec, was crucial. Despite initial rejections from several record labels, they were eventually signed by Mercury Records after a performance at a state fair. The album Middle of Nowhere, produced by the Dust Brothers, not only catapulted Hanson to fame but also allowed them to explore a cheerful and fresh sound that contrasted with the darker trends of the time. “MMMBop” became a pop anthem, reaching number one in multiple countries and solidifying their place in 90s music history.
Throughout their career, Hanson continued to evolve musically. After leaving Mercury Records in 2003, they founded their own label, 3CG Records, and released Underneath in 2004, which was a great success in the independent scene. With singles like “Penny & Me,” they demonstrated that their creativity and connection with the audience remained intact.
