Evan Craft

Evan Craft doesn’t sound like just another artist in the Christian pop scene. His music blends pop-rock guitars with melodies that stick in your head, but what defines his sound is that balance between straightforward lyrics and arrangements that invite you to sing along. It’s not just the language that changes from one song to another—it’s the intention: when he sings in English, the rhythm becomes more agile and catchy; when he does it in Spanish, the phrases flow with a cadence that evokes modern hymns, yet without losing the freshness of a song you hum in the shower. What’s most surprising is how he makes the spiritual feel less like a sermon and more like an intimate conversation between the listener and something greater.

His breakthrough in the Spanish-speaking scene wasn’t a change of direction, but an expansion. In 2011, with Giants, he had already shown his ability to connect with audiences beyond traditional evangelical circles, but it was with Yo Soy Segundo—released that same year—where he found his voice in the language that raised him. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Latin Christian Albums chart and climbed among the most-listened-to in Latin America. He wasn’t aiming to fill stadiums, but to fill churches, schools, and even foster homes with songs that, as he’s said himself, aren’t his: they’re tools for something greater to take control. That focus—less about him, more about the message—ended up defining his career.

Biography

Principio Y Fin, from 2015, was his first album where he invited other artists to join the sound. The collaboration with Carlos PenaVega on the lead track wasn’t just a gesture: it gave the album a reach that transcended religious circuits. But where he truly solidified his style was with Impulso (2017), a project where he brought together figures like Alex Campos, Marcos Witt, and Funky, each adding their own twist to the pop-rock with touches of reggaeton and rap. The album earned him his first Dove Award nomination in the Spanish Language Album of the Year category.

The most unexpected turn came in 2019, when he released the bilingual single Faith (Fe) alongside Jordan Feliz. It wasn’t just a linguistic experiment: it was confirmation that his music could move across borders without losing its essence. But it was Desesperado (2021) that catapulted him to another level. The album debuted at number 45 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart, and its single Be Alright—a collaboration with Danny Gokey and Redimi2—climbed into the top 5 of several Christian charts. He won the Dove Award for Spanish Language Album of the Year, but the most valuable part was seeing how a song written in a hotel room in the middle of the night became an anthem heard on radios and playlists across the continent. And though commercial success arrived, Craft stayed true to his method: record when inspiration strikes, no matter the hour.
