Sur o no sur

Sur o no sur was released in 2002 as an album that didn't aim to sound like anything that already existed. Recorded in Puerto Madero, the sound blends guitars with rhythms that shift between tango-like and jazzy elements, without settling into either. There's an air of Chill Out James in the way the melodies are constructed, as if each track floated over a loop that never quite closes. About the album

Sur o no sur, according to DoReSol

Daisy, for example, begins with a riff that seems to escape from a Candombito but ends in the mood of Hindue Blues. The lyrics of Star estrella —which repeats the same verse like a mantra— give the track an almost hypnotic feel, as if the singer were recounting a story that never quite finishes. Then there's Acción!, which speeds everything up and evokes those live moments when the band decides to unleash its accumulated energy.The album went unnoticed at the time, but over the years it became a cult favorite. They recorded it in three sessions with borrowed equipment and no aspirations of massive success.

Today, if you listen to it in a bar in Puerto Madero at three in the morning, it still sounds fresh, as if time hadn't touched it.
