About the album
De viaje, according to DoReSol
The title track, De viaje, is a good example. It’s not just a catchy tune; its structure—with that tempo shift toward the end—adds an unexpected twist, as if the journey it describes has curves along the way. Mientes tan bien and Contigo are the kind of songs that stick in your head effortlessly, but where the work shines most is in how the album flows: there are no abrupt cuts between ballads and upbeat numbers, just a progression that invites you to listen straight through. That said, it caught the attention of the Grammys: in September 2004, De viaje won the Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the Latin Grammy Awards.
What’s interesting is that, despite its polished sound, the album wasn’t recorded in one place. Between Mexico and Burbank, they used borrowed or shared studios like Musart or Music Corp, and that gave each track a distinct flavor. There’s none of that “factory” feel you sometimes get from albums recorded in a single location; instead, it feels like each song was pieced together where it could, yet the result is cohesive. That, combined with its October 2003 release, made it an album many people heard live before the year was over.
