The story behind
Te acuerdas de mí, according to DoReSol
When Ricardo Arjona released Si el norte fuera el sur in 1996, he included a piece titled Te acuerdas de mí. This song, with a duration of 4 minutes and 17 seconds, is added to the eleven that make up this album, the sixth in the discography of the Guatemalan singer-songwriter. The album, released by Sony Discos and Sony Music Mexico, saw a significant boost in sales thanks to the popularity of the album's title track, which humorously addresses a hypothetical role reversal between Latin America and the United States.
The album Si el norte fuera el sur was enriched by the collaboration of internationally renowned musicians, such as Luis Conte, Billy Preston, Abraham Laboriel, and Michael Landau, contributing diverse sonic textures to the production. Along with Te acuerdas de mí, other notable tracks on this work were Noticiero, Se nos muere el amor, Ella y él, Me enseñaste, Aún te amo (carta no.1), Tú reputación, Frente al televisor, and Tú. Ricardo Arjona Morales, born in Jocotenango, Guatemala, has built a solid career, exploring genres ranging from ballads to rock and Cuban rhythms, and addressing social and love themes in his lyrics with a particular lyrical style. By 2011, his career included thirteen studio albums, and several of them had reached the top of charts such as the Billboard Top Latin Albums in the United States and the charts in Argentina.
