The story behind
A Flock of Seagulls recorded Space Age Love Song in 1981, within their album of the same name. The song was released as the fourth single in 1982, and became one of the most recognized songs by the band. The title was changed at the last moment, because the original was going to be called Through the Looking Glass, but in the end it stayed as Space Age Love Song, because it sounded like a love song from the space age.
The track was recorded in a London studio, and was released together with two other songs. In the United States it reached number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100, and in the United Kingdom it reached number 34. It was part of an album that sold well, and is considered a key point in the band's career.
