The story behind

Song for Love, according to DoReSol

The Song for Love by Extreme is a track that was released as the fifth and final single from their album Extreme II: Pornograffitti.

Its release in early 1992 was marked by the momentum gained from their participation in the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in London. This event, which paid tribute to the memory of Freddie Mercury, resonated strongly and catapulted the band's presence in the United Kingdom, where the single reached number 12 on the Official Singles Chart. Interestingly, some editions of this single included a studio version of Love of My Life by Queen, recorded by Extreme themselves alongside Brian May.

The band, hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States, established themselves in the hard rock scene in the late 1980s, standing out for the vocals of Gary Cherone and the guitar skills of Nuno Bettencourt. It was precisely this chemistry between them that propelled Extreme to become one of the most recognized acts in the genre. While More Than Words, from their 1990 album, brought them great popularity, Song for Love showcases another facet of their sound. The recording of this song was engineered by Craig Doubet and Bob St. John, while mixing and production were handled by Michael Wagener. The track has a duration of 5:55.
