The story behind

The music accompanying Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, a work by maestro Ennio Morricone, evokes a deep nostalgia and a feeling of returning to one's roots. With a duration of 5:06, this piece transports us through melodies that seem to tell stories of yesteryear, of memories brought back to life. The composition was conceived as the first collaboration between Morricone and director Giuseppe Tornatore, who conceived the 1988 film. The plot of the feature film revolves around the life of Salvatore, a successful director but with a sense of emptiness, who decides to revisit his past upon learning of the death of Alfredo, the local cinema projectionist and his childhood guide.

Ennio Morricone, born in Rome in 1928, is a central figure in film music. His legacy includes soundtracks for over 500 productions. While he is remembered for his work in the Spaghetti Western genre, collaborating with Sergio Leone on films such as A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), his versatility led him to explore a wide range of genres. Pieces like those created for Days of Heaven or Cinema Paradiso itself are considered works of great value. The film, co-produced by Cristaldifilm and Les Films Ariane, featured performances by Philippe Noiret, Salvatore Cascio, Marco Leonardi, Jacques Perrin, among others.
