Ennio Morricone, born in Rome in 1928, was a composer and conductor whose work spanned over 500 films and series. While recognized for his film scores, including work on award-winning films, his compositions also explored symphonic and choral genres. He frequently collaborated with his friend Sergio Leone on films in the Spaghetti western genre such as A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), and Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). His versatility led him to compose for a wide range of genres, and his works for Days of Heaven, The Mission, and Cinema Paradiso are considered milestones in his career.
